Change your business name or address
A corporate name change starts at the Secretary of State, then moves to CSLB, and your bond has to match too. We check the order and prepare the filing.
Nothing is filed or charged until you approve the total.
What we do
- Check the new name against the Secretary of State record
- Check that the name meets CSLB's rules
- Tell you what your surety needs so the bond matches
- Prepare and submit the change
What you need
- Your license number
- The new name or address
- Your Secretary of State number, for a corporation or LLC
Rules worth knowing
Secretary of State first
CSLB says the registered name must be changed with the Secretary of State before it can change on CSLB's records.
Name rules
A business name cannot suggest an entity type or classification you do not hold.
