Rules worth knowing
Bond suspensions
CSLB says the surety sends a rescission of the cancellation, or a new bond must reach CSLB within 90 days of its effective date or of the old bond's cancellation. The name and license number on the bond must match CSLB's records exactly.
Workers' comp suspensions
The insurer sends CSLB a reinstatement notice if the policy was cancelled, or a renewal notice if it expired. With no employees, you can file an exemption instead, unless you hold C-8, C-20, C-22, C-39, or D-49.
Renewing while suspended
CSLB lets most suspended licenses renew as active or inactive, but you are not back in good standing, and cannot contract, until the suspension is cleared.
Common questions
Is there a CSLB fee to clear a suspension?
CSLB's suspension page does not list a fee for clearing a bond or workers' comp suspension. Any bond or insurance premium is paid to your surety or insurer, not to us.
What if my suspension is for a judgment, unpaid taxes, or family support?
Those depend on the agency or the person you owe. Tell us on the order form and a specialist reviews it before anything is charged.
