Replace your RMO or RME

When your Responsible Managing Officer or Employee leaves, a 90-day clock starts. If nobody replaces them in time, CSLB suspends the license or removes the classification.

We prepare the Application for Replacing the Qualifying Individual, which can also serve as the notice of disassociation, and calendar your deadline.

Nothing is filed or charged until you approve the total.

What we do

  • Work out your deadline from the disassociation date
  • Prepare the replacement application
  • Check whether a Bond of Qualifying Individual is needed
  • Request the extension if the replacement cannot finish in time

What you need

  • Your license number and the date the qualifier left
  • Your new qualifier's details and experience, or their existing qualifying record
  • Whether the new qualifier is an officer or an employee, and what they own

Rules worth knowing

90 days

The company must replace the RMO or RME within 90 days of the disassociation date, and CSLB must be notified within those 90 days. CSLB can grant one 90-day extension on written request.

Qualifier bond

A $25,000 Bond of Qualifying Individual is required for an RME, and for an RMO who owns less than 10% of the voting stock.

Common questions

What does it cost?

CSLB charges $230. Our $249 fee is separate.

Can you find me a qualifier?

No. A qualifier must really supervise your work: an officer, or an RME employed at least 32 hours a week. Renting a license is illegal.
